Question 1

How do I buy a horse from LoForti Equestrian?

Accepted Answer

Start by viewing our available horses or completing the buyer questionnaire. We take time to understand your experience, goals, budget, and trainer input, then suggest horses that genuinely fit. From there, we support a transparent trial and pre-purchase process, clear purchase coordination, and delivery.

Question 2

Do I need a pre-purchase veterinary examination?

Accepted Answer

We strongly recommend one. A pre-purchase vetting gives you an accurate picture of the horse's current health and soundness so you can make an informed decision. We never discourage buyers from thorough vetting and share all known findings openly.

Question 3

Can I bring my trainer to see a horse?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We welcome and encourage trainer involvement at every stage. An experienced trainer brings an objective eye and helps assess suitability in ways a buyer alone may not see.

Question 4

Will you tell me if a horse is not right for me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If a horse is not appropriate for your experience level or intended environment, we will tell you honestly. We may decline a sale when a horse is not a suitable match, because long-term success and horse welfare come before a transaction.

Question 5

Why are there no horses listed right now?

Accepted Answer

LoForti Equestrian adds horses selectively. Each horse is evaluated for quality, temperament, rideability, and long-term success before it is listed. Rather than building the largest inventory, we curate carefully. Tell us what you're looking for and we will reach out when a suitable match becomes available.

Question 6

How do I submit a horse for consideration?

Accepted Answer

Visit our Submit a Horse page and complete the form with the horse's details, training, temperament, and media. We evaluate each submission carefully for rideability, sound temperament, appropriate training, and market fit. We do not guarantee acceptance or a valuation.

Question 7

Do you deliver horses after purchase?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For horses purchased through LoForti Equestrian, delivery can be coordinated as part of the sale. Our current service area covers Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and West Virginia. Other destinations may be discussed.

Question 8

Can I hire you to transport a horse I already own?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer dedicated private horse transportation starting at $3.00 per mile with top-of-the-line equipment and trained handlers. We haul only one customer's horses at a time — no mixed loads or multi-farm stops. Visit our Transportation page for details.

Question 9

What is shipping fever and how do you prevent it?

Accepted Answer

Shipping fever is a respiratory infection that can develop during or after transport. We reduce the risk by minimizing travel time, ensuring clean ventilation, providing rest stops on long routes, and monitoring the horse carefully after arrival. We recommend close observation for 48 hours post-transport.

Question 10

What is your seven-step process?

Accepted Answer

Our process moves through Discover, Buyer Consultation, Horse Selection, Trial and Due Diligence, Purchase Coordination, Delivery, and Continued Support. You will always know what comes next. Transparency and horse welfare guide every step.

Question 11

Do you offer trials?

Accepted Answer

We support a transparent trial and pre-purchase process. Where possible, we encourage you to visit, ride, and assess the horse in person before committing. We never use pressure tactics or artificial urgency to rush a decision.

Question 12

Where is LoForti Equestrian based?

Accepted Answer

We serve the Mid-Atlantic region — primarily Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and West Virginia. We are not a traditional lesson barn, boarding facility, or training center; we are a focused English horse sales company.
